Bit Academy Expert Review
My colleague and I were given the opportunity to conduct our first Expert Review, for Bit Academy, together. This was a bit of a learning experience, but since that initial expert review, all the others have been 'easy peasy lemon squeezy.'
Before diving into our recommendations for this company, we needed to gather more information about the Bit Academy application called Jarvis. Through an interview with the Bit Academy team and an analysis of the current application, we documented our initial assumptions.
Next, we elaborated on the focal points in a Usability Test script, which we conducted with a few Jarvis users. I find these types of interviews incredibly enjoyable, not just as the interviewer but also as the note-taker. It's fascinating to observe how people react to a product. We analyzed the results of this interview and linked them to design principles. Ultimately, we presented the results and recommendations in a presentation. In this presentation, we also provided examples from other websites/apps and additional tips for improving Jarvis.
Through this assignment, we also identified some flaws in our Expert Review system at Morrow. There were uncertainties about hour estimates, and there were differences of opinion regarding what was promised to the client. We addressed and resolved these issues together with our other interaction colleague. We made agreements and created an Expert Review structure and template that can be used externally. We incorporated the 10 usability heuristics for user interface design into these reviews and I also integrated low-carbon and inclusive design to keep up with the times. Finally, we created a new proposal and I made an interview template for internal use, making it easier to conduct these Expert Reviews.
